We are aware that our green belt isn’t living up to its name. Please see the following communication from our irrigation vendor:
Presently, we are experiencing difficulties with the irrigation system and are well aware of the large number of irrigation related work orders.
We are responding by sending multiple technicians daily to try to get these orders sorted and get WC3 to green up. This is a compound issue I would like everyone to understand:
1. The heat wave with intermittent wind makes it technically impossible to irrigate adequately within Denver Water’s 3 day per week restrictions. Moreover, HOA “water windows” make this task even more challenging.
2. We are encountering many problems with an aging system. As an example, one entire station of irrigation spray heads is presently not functioning because the control valve used to operate it is probably nearly 40 years old, obsolete, and no longer in production. It must be replaced with a modern control valve to become operational. I’ve dispatched a tech to do exactly that right now. We are also encountering broken pipes due to tree roots literally strangling and destroying components.
We want everyone to know that Brightview is very focused on these issues and are actively working on solutions. I am responding to this severe issue by dispatching a minimum of one technician there daily to work on the various repairs and upgrades.
We are also actively working towards a broader proposal to make some badly needed upgrades to the system this fall or after this heat wave stops: Controller upgrades as well as some “isolation valves” which would make it possible for us to work on select portions of the system without needing to shut the entire system down during a heat wave to replace a simple valve.
We ask the community to remain patient with us as we work on the common irrigation system in a methodical and objective way. We realize that there seems to be many different problems and we are trying to work on things in order of severity. Please understand that there is much forward momentum, it just may take some time to see the results of the various repairs that are being performed.
We also ask the community to be understanding that we are needing to irrigate at times that may not be convenient for everyone in the community to avoid damage to turf.
